RUPERT MURDOCH FACES HURDLES IN HIS BID TO BUY OUT SKY

One of the most happening news from around the world is Baron Rupert Murdoch’s ambition to buy out complete stakes in BSkyB. The owner of News Corp also has a good 39.1 per cent stake in Sky.

In fact Sky has been among the most profitable and path breaking of enterprises as far as Murdoch is concerned. He definitely sees the opportunities that Sky presents him with. This is with all the focus being majorly on the services like digital satellite TV, next generation broadband and of course the home phone. Sky provides with all these services and is rather at the helm of things. Most of the UK homes have a sky subscription. They actually touched the ten million mark of customers recently.

News Corp may as well use Sky to also offer and promote its other enterprises. To cite an example, they may give bundle subscriptions to the online operations of newspapers such as The Times and The Sunday Times among others. These bundles may be given along with the Sky broadband packages.

The worry here is the fact that Rupert Murdoch will get unimaginable dominance as far as the media sector is concerned in the United Kingdom. If he completely owns the Sky then his company may as all end owing forty percent of the national press. This means twice the size of BBC.

News Corp will simply rule the roost in terms funding as well as revenues. A European Commission inquiry recently gave Rupert Murdoch, a green signal as to his plans for owning the complete stakes in Sky.

BT option 2 is a complete broadband package, 8 MB high speed connectivity, enhanced wi-fi, cheap broadband phone calls and 5 GB online storage are the key features of this bt option 2 package.
